Season 2: Twin Peaks

The second stunning season of RuPaul's Fantasy Drag Race steps into the enigmatic world of David Lynch's Twin Peaks. Twelve iconic queens sauntered into the werkroom, their journey just as unorthodox as their source material. This season would solidify its iconic stature, producing multiple winners over the course of RuPaul's Fantasy Drag Race herstory.

Iconic Moments

🌠 Audrey’s Rise and Fall

Audrey Horne emerged as a fan favorite early in the season. She won two of the first five challenges, earning a slew of high placements along the way, leaving her fellow competitors in the dust. Her star seemed to be on the rise, until it came crashing down in a series of unfortunate events. First, she found herself lip-syncing against the season’s other darling, Laura Palmer, in a performance of “Dancing on My Own.” The judges couldn’t decide between the two, so they both shantayed. The following week, however, the two queens found themselves lip-syncing against each other once more, with Audrey being sent home. Audrey's elimination shocked fans, with many calling it an unfair decision on the part of the judges.

Log Lady’s Premonition 🔮

Another iconic moment came during the acting challenge in episode 4. Before taking the stage, Log Lady received a chilling message from her log, predicting that one of the queens would “fall before the end of this challenge.” During the runway, the lights went out and Log Lady disappeared. The remaining queens were shocked and confused, as RuPaul announced that the log’s prediction had come true. This set the stage for one of the most iconic episodes of the season: "Red Room Queens".

❓ Red Room Queens

The queens entered the werkroom the next day, still in shock from Log Lady’s disappearance, but their shock was amplified when they were suddenly sucked into the Red Room, a mysterious and unsettling space from the Twin Peaks universe. There, they came face-to-face with their evil doppelgangers, forced to compete against them in a series of escape challenges. The Red Room was a turning point in the season, introducing a supernatural element that kept viewers on the edge of their seats.

Josie Packard’s Unorthodox Elimination 🚪

The Red Room episode also led to one of the most shocking and unorthodox eliminations in Drag Race herstory. Josie Packard was unable to escape the Black Lodge, facing her doppelganger in a solo lip sync to "Thriller". Josie lost, and the Red Room seemed to literally swallow her whole. Upon their return to the werkroom, the queens encountered a cryptic message: "Strange markings and symbols. The Log Has Spoken".

🥈 A Second Chance and a Shocking Return

During the reunion episode, both Audrey and Bobby were given the opportunity to lip sync their way back into the finale for a chance to be crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar. Bobby ultimately snatched the win with his performance of “Dancing Queen.”

An Unlikely Winner 💃

While Bobby's return was unexpected, many fans had their money on Sheriff Harry to take the crown. He was one of the strongest competitors of the season, winning three challenges in a row. But in the end, it was Laura Palmer who snatched the crown with her powerful performance of "Believe", despite having been in the bottom two three times during the season. Her win was a reminder that in the world of drag, anything is possible.

I came, I saw, I got eliminated. But I'll always be Twin Peaks' finest, even if I didn't win this competition. I'll see you all in the black lodge...or maybe just at the Twin Peaks coffee shop. Either way, it's been a wild ride. Peace out, bitches.

One of the few mid out queens to make a splash this sesaon, Bob's otherwordly presence left a mark. His storyline was quickly ended, however, when the season's eventual winner took him out in his first bottom lipsync. There was a poetic sense of resolve in this moment considering Bob's and Laura's tumultuous history.

Exit Line & Mirror Message:

"You may have won this time, Laura, but I'll be back. I'm not done with you yet."

Well, well, well. It looks like I've been sent back to where I came from. But don't think I'm gone for good. I'll be back, my dear queens. And next time, I won't be satisfied with just one elimination. The Black Lodge will claim all of you eventually. Until then, my sweet, sweet Laura... think of me when you lay in bed at night, wondering if I'll return to haunt your dreams. Goodbye, my lovelies. Until we meet again in the Red Room.

Lipsyncs:

Audrey arguably left more of a mark than some of the finalists of Season 2. She dominated the first half of the season before falling into the bottom three times in a row.  She twice lipsynced against the eventual winner, ultimately getting eliminated just short of the finale. During the reunion, she had the opportunity to lipsync her way back into the top 4, only to lose to Bobby. Many fans questioned this decision, solidifying Audrey's legacy as a robbed icon.  Little did Audrey know at the time, but she'd go on to do a little robbing of her own.

Exit Line & Mirror Message:

"Well ladies, it looks like the party's over. Time for me to go home and get my beauty sleep. You know, unlike some of you, I actually need it."

To my remaining sisters, don't let anyone tell you that you're not good enough. You are all fierce, talented, and deserve to be here. But remember, only one of you can be the queen of Twin Peaks. And as for me, I'm gonna go out there and conquer the world, one shade at a time. Stay fabulous, bitches. XOXO, Audrey Horne.

Bobby initially was following the early out track until finding his grove in the competition. While he stayed consistent until almost the very end, he was unable to snatch any wins. Eliminated just before the finale, he was given the chance to lipsync against Audrey for a spot in the top 4. Winning this lipsync, he became one of the few finalists in the history of RuPaul's Fantasy Drag Race with zero wins. Bobby would eventually be eliminated by the winner of Season 2 during the lipsync smackdown for the crown.

I may not have won, but I'm a queen that never gave up. I'm going to keep slaying every day and make sure the world knows my name. Love and light, Bobby.

Lipsyncs:

Log Lady is the only queen of Season 2 to never have to lipsync for her life. Her consistent performances saw her receiving mostly safe scores throughout the season. She was the first contestant to disappear into the Black Lodge, emerging with the rest of the cast upon their collective escape. Her iconic log brought the drama throughout the season and Margeret blossomed into a worthy finalist, despite her middling scores. She was eventually eliminated in the lipsync smackdown for the crown during her face-off against runner-up Sheriff Harry.

"Thank you, RuPaul, for this amazing experience. I've learned so much about myself and my drag, and I've made lifelong friends. I'm so grateful to have been a part of this competition. And before I go, I'd like to leave you with one final reading from my log:

'The world of the past can be a treacherous place, but the world of the present is a dangerous one as well. One must be vigilant at all times, for the forces of evil never sleep.'"

Lipsyncs:

Sheriff Harry had an amazing showing on Season 2. Tying Laura in wins, and with only two poorly scoring performances, Sheriff Harry seemed a shoe-in for this season's winner. In the end, his loss to Laura Palmer in the final lipsync of the season was viewed as a robbery. Upon further analysis, his lower average challenge scores and lack of compelling storyline proved to be his Achilles heel.

Lipsyncs:

Laura is an ultimate example of how strong challenge scores along with a powerful storyline leads to victory. Laura's stunning eight lipsync wins throughout the season proved she is one of the ultimate lipsync assassins of the RuPaul's Fantasy Drag Race franchise. Her face-offs against her literal demons, as well has her strong performances came to a head in the finale Rumix challenge. Many fans say her verse on their final song "Falling" was the moment Laura secured the crown, despite her win initially being called out as unfair.
